IES Tegueste, Spain

The I.E.S. Tegueste is the only secondary school in the municipality of Tegueste in the north of Tenerife. The high school was founded in 1998. Our students are between 11 and 18 years old and they study here Secondary level (1st to 4th year), Bachillerato (two years) and two different levels for Professional Qualification (two years each). The only Professional Cycles related to Chemical Sciences in the island are located in IES Tegueste. Their students are over 18. We offer different fields of study: Sciences, Technology and Social and Human Studies for our students in Secondary and Bachillerato. Among our pupils we have physically disabled students, some of them using wheelchairs. Most families here earn their living from agriculture, construction and services.

Our staff (about 65 teachers) and students (700) work together to gain an integral education which pays attention not only to academic contents but also to values which consolidate in the attitudes and social behaviour. At present, the English Department carries out several penpal exchanges with Canada, USA and Romania in different levels, some of them for more than five years now. Nowadays in the Professional Cycles we have the following ongoing Erasmus + projects (2018-1-ES01-KA103-047191, 2019-1-ES01-KA102-061469 and 2019-1-ES01-KA103-060007). In 2012-2014 we participated in a Comenius (2012-1-RO1-COM06-223769) with France, Norway, Turkey and Slovakia. We also participated in an E-Twinning project (“The house we live in”) in 2013-2015 with Germany to apply ICT skills.
